Our Second Brownie Year...
September, 2005
– Welcome back everyone! This year we took on a fourth leader and a new
Brownie Girl Scout!
Things ran very
smoothly our first meeting. We voted on the try-its’ we wanted to start
with this year and we played Girl Scout Law Bingo to help us to remember the different parts of the law that we learned so
long ago as Daisy Girl Scouts. This was a great way to introduce the law to our
new Brownie as well.
The girls helped
to raise $165.40 for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by doing extra chores around their homes. Great job girls!
October, 2005
– The troop ran the bake sale table at the second annual Ride For Rick event that took place in Woodbury on October
1.
On October 16, we
visited the Thomaston Opera House for their production of Pinocchio. Very fun!
On October 21, we
visited the Woodbury Emergency Service building for a tour of the fire house and trucks.
Thank you Mr. K!
This month the girls
started collection pink Yoplait lids for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
They will be collecting these lids for the next few months.
November, 2005
– We attended a Girl Scout Hayride and Bonfire with Brownie Troop 4105. We
had a great time learning and singing new songs. Of course, we made SMORES!
To celebrate America
Recycles Day, we held our second annual book swap at our November 18th meeting! The girls brought in old books in good condition that they no longer wanted and were
able to purchase “new” used books in good condition. It was a great
way to promote reuse and reading!
December, 2005
– This month we turned burnt out light bulbs into reindeer and brought them to the Woodbury Senior Center.
January, 2006
– It’s Girl Scout Cookie season once again! To coincide with this
year’s theme of “Be Brillant”, the girls worked on their Science In Action try-it.
Beginning this
month, the girls will spend the next 12 weeks working on earning the Girl Scouts SHAPE UP! patch. Good Luck!
February, 2006 – This month on the 19th, we hosted the St. Paul's breakfast hour and on the 24th we helped out at the St. Teresa's
PBJ Friday and made sandwhichs for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
March, 2006 – We had an awesome time at the Girl Scouts annual Bethwood Bowling party that
took place on March 12th (Girl Scout Birthday).
In celebration of the birthday of Girl Scouting in the USA,
our troop worked on the "Birthday in a Bag" project and each girl donated enough items to fill two large bags with everything
a child would want to help them celebrate their birthday. These bags were donated to our local food bank.
The girls recycled bottle caps and made adorable rattle
snakes. Thank you Senior Panchos for your donation of bottle caps!
Congratualtions Brownies for earning your Working it out
try-it!
